Vineyard Vines’ Pink Whale Lands At Grand Central Terminal

Shep and Ian Murray have definitely come full circle: From giving up their corporate jobs and daily commute through Grand Central to sell quirky ties to opening a NY Flagship At Grand Central Terminal. Not bad, huh? Brothers Shep and Ian Murray have opened their Connecticut- based preppy brand Vineyard Vines on 42nd Street, neighboring Banana Republic on the east side of Vanderbilt Hall. This is their second location in Manhattan, with the initial one situated at 1151 Third Avenue.

The store spans 6,000 square feet and features apparel and accessories for men, women and children. Items customized for Grand Central such as Shep Shirts for Men, Women and Boys make this Vineyard Vines scene unique. The Grand Central Terminal location is furnished with an interactive digital mirror, allowing vineyard selfies for sharing with friends and family before leaving the store. The cash wrap area is a stem of a boat, and marlins are mounted in the store, suggesting perhaps The Murray’s summers on Martha’s Vineyard. Like their mantra: “Every Day Should Feel This Good” is the vibe and you will experience this while shopping for dresses and shorts for vacationing, summer barbecues as well as year-round attire.

Accessories Label Erin Dana Presents Summer Pop Up Shop At Dream Downtown

Summer is officially here. And now the flurry of lazy poolside afternoons have become more chic thanks to New-York based accessories brand Erin Dana. Erin Dana partners Creative Director, Erin Lichy and Chief Marketing Officer, Robyn Davidson have teamed up with Dream Downtown to present a Summer Thursdays Choker Bar at the hotel’s Dream Beach. The weekly pop-up also dubbed, #Erindanachokedup highlights the brand’s chokers in leather and exotics as well as beach hobos and pouchettes, some adorned with charming crocheted pom pom trim. An interactive bar is equipped for monogramming as well as engaging activities. Poolside posers can take Polaroid pics while purchasing chokers instead of the traditional mirror and partake in the brand’s “shotboard” of summer margaritas and smoothies to cool off while lounging. New colors and styles from the Choker Bar will rotate weekly to preserve the element of surprise so repeat visits are a must.

Launched in 2013, the direct to consumer brand has gained admirers from stylish It girls including Taylor Swift and Hannah Bronfman. It is manufactured in New York and sources local materials from the Garment District, Brooklyn, and Queens. Since sourcing is done locally, accessories can be created based on a customer’s liking in a few short weeks, instead of the industry standard lead -time of four to six months. Things are heating up this summer for Erin Dana with a pop-up scheduled in Southampton, and an appearance during Miami Swim Week at The Miami Beach Edition. Fingers crossed the brand will continue their partnership with the Dream Hotel Group as the luxury boutique hotel opens new locations including the Dream Hollywood slated to open this fall, Dream Nashville, as well as Dallas, Times Square and Palm Springs in 2018. A Dream Long Island City is also scheduled to open in 2019.
