Heading East This Weekend? Lisa Perry Offers A Taste Of Summer

Fashion designer Lisa Perry has joined forces with Chef Dominique Ansel, (well-known for Cronut) to host a one day only ice cream pop up truck on August 2 at the Lisa Perry East Hampton store on 67 Main Street. Warhol-inspired “sundaes in a can” will be served with flavors of Perry’s favored soda pop dessert, the root beer float of course! Fixings include root beer ice cream, stracciatella ice cream, mascarpone semi freddo, macerated cherries, toasted marshmallows and mini meringues. The sundaes in a can are priced at $15 with 20 percent of the proceeds going to City Harvest. The ice cream pop up truck begins at noon until supplies last so get there early!

A Night Of Celebration: The CFDA Fashion Awards

Last week, the Council of Fashion Designers of America celebrated the winners and honorees of the 2014 CFDA Fashion Awards in collaboration with Swarovski at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall. The affair hosted by film director and screenwriter John Waters, recognizes the top creative talent in the industry. “The CFDA believes in designers at every stage of their career, “ noted CFDA CEO Steven Kolb, “ We recognized a broad range of talent and influence from student scholarship winners and emerging talent to industry icons.”

We announced the nominees earlier this spring and now here are the winners…. The Womenswear Designer of the Year award went to Joseph Altuzarra for his label Altuzarra. The Menswear Designer of the Year award went to Maxwell Osborne and Dao-Yi Chow for their label Public School. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were awarded Accessories Designer of the Year for The Row.

Anna Wintour presented Rihanna with this year’s Fashion Icon award. The Swarovski Awards were given to Shane Gabier and Christopher Peters of Creatures Of the Wind in the Womenswear category, Tim Coppens for Menswear, and Irene Neuwirth for Accessory Design. Each category will receive financial support from Swarovski and exposure to the company’s crystal products and applications for fashion.

Tom Ford received The Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award for his creative influence on fashion. A special live tribute highlighting sixteen models of color paid homage to Bethann Hardison, this year’s Founder’s Award honoree for advocating diversity on the fashion runways. Diane von Furstenberg presented the Board of Directors’ Tribute to Fashion Calendar founder and publisher, Ruth Finley. The Media Award in honor of Eugenia Sheppard was presented to Paul Cavaco and the International Award was presented to Raf Simons of Christian Dior. Congratulations to all of the winners and honorees.
