These Are The Best New Bourbons We Are Drinking This Fall
September kicked off National Bourbon Heritage Month, marking an official salute to the fall season. Fall is the perfect time of year to cozy up and sip a brown spirit involving a smooth flavor, and a hint of caramel, and spice. This is also the season for bourbon releases- Everything from craft distilleries, to annual limited release bottles, has us eager to awaken our senses with some imbibing rich and robust bourbons. As we have described before, bourbon is a whiskey that is only so when it is distilled in the US. Also made from a grain mixture that is at least 51% corn and stored in new charred-oak barrels that are distilled to no more than 160 proof. To welcome fall, we have listed the best new bourbons that you should be drinking right now. They are perfect for those sweater weather drinking moments that include you + fireplace+ rocks glass in hand, filled with something dark and delightful.
Basil Hayden’s 10 Year Bourbon
Originally launched in December 2018, Basil Hayden’s 10 Year Bourbon is appearing on shelves in limited quantities this season. This truly unique expression offers the perfect blend of the whiskey’s trademark spice balanced with a caramel sweetness and oak. Featuring a golden amber hue, on the nose reveals big oak, hints of char, vanilla and rye. The taste, an oak balance with caramel sweetness and rye spice.
Hudson Whiskey
Hudson Whiskey revamped the brand with new liquids, new expressions and pricing. Bright Lights, Big Bourbon starts strong with notes of rich vanilla, oak and lightly salted caramel and palate of stone fruit, caramel and cashew. Do The Rye Thing is a straight rye whiskey that is bold and spicy, with notes of citrus and honey and a bright mint finish. In addition, Hudson Whiskey reimagined a fan favorite, Maple Cask Rye into Short Stack. Short Stack is a bold rye spice mellowed in American oak then finished in Vermont maple syrup barrels. And Back Room Deal is a straight rye whiskey finished in peated Scotch barrels that offers a bit of smoke, and just a bit of spice.
Weed Straight Bourbon
WEED, which stands for We Embrace Equality & Diversity released an award-winning straight bourbon. Their amber-orange liquid draws in smoky aromas of oak and roasted hazelnut giving way to fruity notes of crisp apple and ripe citrus. The finish is a touch of sweetness, with a lingering warm smooth flavor.
Wolf Moon Bourbon
Created by country artists Jason Aldean and Florida Georgia Line, Wolf Moon Bourbon is distilled from Midwestern grains and aged for four years in new, charred American oak barrels. The bourbon’s flavor profile offers sweet corn grain and candied fruit, with a finish of baking spices and caramel.
Four Roses Annual Limited-Edition Small Batch
Bourbon fans look forward to the annual Four Roses Limited Edition Small Batch. This year’s release is a blend of 12-year old OBSV and OESV, 16-year-old OESK and 19-year-old OBSK resulting a luxe sipping bourbon with deep notes of stone fruit, vanilla and caramel.
Heaven’s Door Whiskey
Co-created by Bob Dylan, this Tennessee Straight Bourbon Whiskey features a high-rye mash bill with a blend of small grain to complement the character. The result is smooth and lasting with notes of vanilla and baked bread layered over a bed of toasted oak.
