Explore Irresistible Negroni Week Recipes, From Classic Variations To creative Twists. Find Your Next Favorite Cocktail Created By Top Bartenders For Celebrating Negroni Week
Ready to become an expert in how to drink a Negroni? This iconic Italian cocktail has earned its place among the world’s most celebrated drinks and for good reason. Made with three classic ingredients: Gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth, the Negroni is a simple yet sophisticated cocktail with a beautifully balanced combination of bitter, sweet, herbal, and citrus notes. Served over ice and finished with an orange garnish, it is a go to drink at home during aperitivo hour, before dinner, or as an elegant evening sip. And during Negroni Week, September 21-27, there is even more reason to raise a glass.
When Imbibe Magazine launched Negroni Week in 2013, the celebration brought bars, restaurants, bartenders, and cocktail enthusiasts together around one iconic drink while raising money for charitable causes. The result has become a global celebration of the Negroni, featuring classic recipes alongside inventive variations that showcase just how versatile this cocktail can be.
The celebration has also supported Slow Food, an organization dedicated to creating a world where food and beverages are good for people, the producers who make them, and the planet. For participating bars and restaurants, Negroni Week is an opportunity to showcase creative cocktails while giving guests a reason to discover new drinks and support charitable initiatives.
Negroni Week Recipes: Delicious Cocktails to Try
The beauty of the Negroni is its simplicity. A traditional Negroni is generally made with equal parts gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth. The ingredients are stirred with ice and served in a rocks glass, traditionally over a large cube of ice. An orange peel garnish adds an aromatic citrus note that complements the cocktail’s bittersweet profile. When drinking a Negroni, take a moment to appreciate the aroma before taking a sip. Its bold flavor is designed to be enjoyed slowly rather than quickly consumed.
One of the best things about Negroni Week recipes is the endless opportunity to experiment. For instance, changing the gin can dramatically alter the character of the cocktail. Different vermouths can add herbal, floral, fruity, or richer notes. And replacing the gin altogether can create an entirely different cocktail.
Swap gin for tequila or mezcal for a more agave-forward variation. Or add bourbon to move toward a Boulevardier, or explore nonalcoholic spirits and aperitifs for a zero-proof interpretation. So during Negroni Week, visit one of the participating bars to experience inventive creations showcasing the cocktail’s incredible range, or explore these exclusive Negroni Week Recipes below created by some of NYC’s top bartenders. Cheers!
