Fjällräven and Specialized Team Up With Stylish Spring Outdoor Gear
I was super stoked to attend the Fjällräven & Specialized preview at the NYC Meatpacking Fjällräven store to celebrate their brand-new collaboration. Fjällräven, a Swedish outdoor brand known mostly for luggage teamed up with California based bicycle company Specialized to produce a line of goods geared towards the urban cyclist and aimed at reminding individuals of being out in nature. With the growth of bike packing and cycling in general the two brands put together a new collection of apparel, accessories and gear that work as well on foot as on a bike and doesn’t scream ‘cyclist’. An aim of the collaboration is to be versatile and inspire active and non-active cyclists to get out and ride whether it is the urban cyclist making a trip to the supermarket, commuting to work or exploring the great outdoors lakeside in the country.
The product drop features items designed for experiencing the outdoors including a hard-shelled bucket like pannier called the Cool Cave that attaches easily to a bicycle and can be used by itself. It also works very well as a tote, rucksack complete with a padded laptop compartment and can be worn on your back, and cross body / hip pack all of which are part of the collection.
The apparel items are headlined by the anorak pullover which takes the classic Fjällräven anorak and revamps it with Specialized’s bike fit and style. It features Waxed G-1000 Lite Fabric which keeps the wind and rain out. In addition, there are stretch panels for comfort and ease of movement, reflective details so you’re visible to traffic and hand and chest pockets as well as a stowable hood. Other items include a moisture wicking merino wool / recycled polyester tee shirt, a soft packable cap that fits under a cycling helmet, merino wool temperature regulating socks and a bucket cap.
We admire Fjällräven for expanding beyond their traditional demographic of walking, hiking, trekking to partner with Specialized and bring these accessible products and promote two wheeled outdoor exploration. We look forward to more product drops from the collaboration to come in the weeks ahead.
