This Famous Street In Dumbo Brooklyn Is Home To The Best Cocktail Bar in Dumbo With A View
Dumbo, the acronym for, “down under the Manhattan Bridge overpass” is one of New York City’s most exclusive enclaves. Situated between the Brooklyn Bridge, Bridge Street, York Street and the East River, Dumbo is undeniably picture-ready and one of the city’s most scenic and upscale neighborhoods. The intersection of Washington and Water Streets offers iconic views of the Manhattan Bridge and cobblestone streets creating an outdoor runway for the chic and shabby alike. This famous street in Dumbo is also home to the best place for drinks, dinner and late night. Gair, located at 41 Washington Street, is an upscale bar that features elevated drinks and bites. Gair, is named after Robert Gair , the late 19th-century champion who originally built the warehouse space in the late 1800s, and left an imprint sparking the boom that turned Dumbo into the creative hub that it is known as today.
Designed with a large, horseshoe-shaped bar with adornments of natural leather, blackened steel and handmade Moroccan tiles and warm tones complement this industrial yet-design driven space.
The cocktail menu curated by Beverage Director Robert Struthers and General Manager Megan Casale, (formerly of NYC bars Dutch Kills, Fresh Kills and Nitecap; Lavender Lake, Dirty Precious, and Claudette), highlights creatively designed libations including low-and no-ABV options, select wines and local beer. Signature cocktails like Old Man and the Sea featuring Japanese whisky, nori, and umami or Autumn in New York with bourbon, applejack, and almond, ginger involves exceptional spirits that people may not recognize initially, yet provides the opportunity for guests to explore different flavors that are local as well as global.
The wine selection showcases natural and organic wines from rare wine-producing regions, such as Bosnia, South Africa, and Hungary, and the beer offerings supports local breweries including Finback, Brooklyn and Staten Island’s Flagship Brewing Co.
Shared plates pair well with cocktails. Led by chef Gabe McMackin, ( Troutbeck in the Hudson Valley and the Finch in Brooklyn) the food menu incorporates ingredients from the surrounding region. From noshing Ends Meat Coppa with Pickled Shiitake Mushrooms, a Double Smashed Burger, to Scallop Crudo, creates a beautiful space where people can gather and enjoy a drink and eat with the best view.
