The American Apparel & Footwear Association Hosts American Image Awards

Last week, the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) presented the AAFA American Image Awards at New York’s iconic Plaza Hotel. The bash hosted by actress/model Brooke Shields, honored leaders, and standouts involved in the apparel and footwear industries including design, manufacturing and retail. The gala benefitted the Council of Fashion Designers of America Foundation.

This year’s honorees included Person of the Year, Issac Ash, President and CEO of United Legwear & Apparel Co.; Retailer of the Year, American Eagle Outfitters; Company of Year, Birkenstock; Designer of the Year, Eileen Fisher; Media Brand of the Year, WWD; and Fashion Collaboration of the Year, Disney Princess x Ruthie Davis.

“The American Image Awards is about celebrating the future of fashion, “ noted Rick Helfenbein, president and CEO of the American Apparel & Footwear Association. This year’s honorees exemplify where the industry is heading, and it was a privilege to showcase their success.”

The sold out event was jammed packed with celebs, fashion executives, and designers in celebration of the night’s honorees. Notables included designers Peter Som, Naeem Khan, Stacy Bendet, as well as actors Katherine McNamara of Happyland, The Americans’ Holly Taylor, and TV Personality Lala Anthony.
