Many may wonder why every February 22 we pay homage to the popular cocktail , the Margarita. The mixture made of lime juice, triple sec, and tequila originated in Mexico is celebrated as the official drink of having fun. This well-liked cocktail fits all, as the pure agave spirit is low in sugar and has no carbohydrates making it a guilt-free sip that can be enjoyed any day besides Margarita Day. While, the popular lime and tequila drink will be consumed at various bars and restaurants rimmed with salt, or without, or by the pitcher, we are sure many festive gatherings are happening as well. So to answer the question, What do you serve on National Margarita Day, we have rounded up some of the best agave-based recipes to handle any Margarita filled fiesta.
Mezcal Campante Margarita
Ingredients
- 2 oz Mezcal Campante
- 1 oz triple sec liqueur
- 1 1⁄2 oz lime juice
- For rimming: worm salt or Kosher salt
- For garnish: lime wedge
Method
Combine the Mezcal Campante, triple sec liqueur, and lime juice, in a shaker. Add ice, and shake. Leave to chill, as you prepare the glasses. Pour salt on a plate. Run a wedge of lime along the edge of the glass. Place the glass upside down into the salt, allowing the salt to coat the rim of the glass. Fill the glass with ice, and pour the mixture over the ice. Add a wedge of lime for garnish.
Watermelon Basil Margarita
Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz Patrón Reposado
- 1 oz Fresh watermelon juice or puree
- 1 oz Fresh lime juice
- 1 oz Agave nectar
- 3 Basil leaves or basil simple syrup
- Watermelon wedge or dehydrated lime wheel for garnish
Method:
Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake with ice to chill. Strain onto fresh ice in a double old fashioned glass. Garnish with a basil leaf and wedge of watermelon or dehydrated lime wheel.
Perfect Pineapple Margarita
Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz Patrón Silver
- .5 oz Citrónge Orange Liqueur
- 1 oz Pineapple juice
- .5 oz Lime juice
- Tajín rim
- Lime wedge for garnish
Method:
Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake until combined and chilled. Strain into a Tajin-rimmed rocks glass filled with ice. Garnish with a lime wedge.
Cazadores Highland Margarita
Ingredients:
- 2 oz Tequila Cazadores Blanco
- 4 oz Grapefruit Juice
- 1 oz fresh lime juice
- 1 oz light agave nectar
Method:
Combine all ingredients with ice, shake and strain into a salted glass filled with ice. Garnish with a grapefruit wedge and a lime wheel
Cazadores Jalapeño Margarita
Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz Tequila Cazadores Blanco
- 1/2 oz premium orange liqueur
- 1/2 oz light agave nectar
- 1 oz fresh lime juice
- 1 slice Jalapeño
Method:
Combine all ingredients with ice, shake and strain into a salted glass filled with ice. Garnish with a lime wheel.
Blood Orange Margarita
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ oz. Tequila Cazadores Blanco or Reposado
- 1 oz. agave nectar or simple syrup
- ¾ oz. Fresh lime juice
- ¾ oz. Perfect Puree Blood Orange concentrate
Method:
In a blender combine all the ingredients with a full scoop of ice, blend and serve in a 12 oz. glass. Garnish with a slice of orange, Manny Salt rim. *Manny’s Salt: Salt flavored with guajillo and pasilla chili peppers, hibiscus, sugar and lime.
Gran Centenario Plata Margarita
Ingredients:
- 2 parts Gran Centenario Plata Tequila
- 1 part Agavero Orange Liqueur
- 1 part Fresh Lime Juice
- 1/8 part Agave Nectar
- Garnish: Tajin Salt Rim and lime wedge
Method:
Add all ingredients to a shaker. Add ice, shake, and strain into a salt rimmed rocks glass. Add garnish.
Gran Centenario Watermelon Grape Margarita
Ingredients:
• 1 cup Gran Centenario Plata Tequila
• 2 cups Frozen Watermelon
• 2 cups Frozen Red Seedless Grapes
• 3/4 cup Fresh Lime Juice
• 1 cup Simple Syrup
• 1 cup Ice
• 2 slices Seeded Jalapeño or Serrano Chile (Optional)
• Garnish: Lime Wedge and Red Grapes
Method:
Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. Garnish with lime wedge and fresh red grapes. Recipe serves 4.
Flecha Margarita
Ingredients:
- 2 oz Flecha Azul Blanco Tequila
- ¾ oz fresh lime juice
- ¾ oz triple sec (Combier)
Method:
Combine all ingredients into a shaker. Add ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a rocks glass and add fresh ice.
Flecha Spicy Margarita
Ingredients:
- 2 oz Flecha Azul Blanco Tequila
- ¾ oz fresh lime juice
- ¾ oz triple sec
- 3 jalapeno slices
- Tajin rim
Method:
Combine all ingredients into a shaker. Muddle jalapeno slices, add ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a rocks glass and add fresh ice.
Spicy Pineapple Margarita
Ingredients:
- 2 ¼ oz Flecha Azul Reposado Tequila
- 1 ½ oz pineapple juice
- ¾ oz fresh lime juice
- ½ oz cane syrup
- 3 jalapeno slices
Method:
Combine all ingredients into a shaker. Muddle jalapeno slices, add ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a rocks glass and add fresh ice.
