This Recently Reopened Restaurant in NYC Delivers Unobstructed Views Of The East River
Going to a meal at Riverpark is like finding a treasure – you don’t want to tell too many people but you do want to share it with those close to you. It’s a hidden oasis located at the end of east 29th st above the FDR Drive in the Alexandria Science Center. Riverpark has an outdoor patio that offers stunning views of the East River, Long Island City and Greenpoint and a dimly lit leathery filled interior. It was opened by the celebrity chef Tom Colicchio around 2010 and is now run by the Backal Hospitality Group with Chef German Villatoro running the culinary program.
Riverpark is a true farm to table restaurant with a New American menu. The cocktail and wine program is overseen by beverage director Greg DeVico. I started with the delicious Busy Bee’s which consisted of beeswax infused bourbon, Cherry Heering, Carpano Antica vermouth and absinthe. The slight sweetness of the beeswax balanced well with the bitterness of the cocktail. The food menu is captivating and we had a five course tasting menu of Duo Crudo, Lioni Burrata di Buffalo, Branzino, Amish chicken and Apple Crostata for dessert. Every course was delectable and exquisite.
