Hopefully you have been enjoying escapes out East but if you haven’t figured out how to spend summer in The Hamptons yet, there is still time! In between the multiple social activities, or stretches actually spent on the beach we have your summer guide on what to do in the Hamptons. So here is your best bet for places to shop, dine, drink, and overall Hamptons Events to see and do this summer season.
Southampton
If heading to Southampton, stay at The Capri, a boutique hotel that has a beach-chic vibe and attracts a cool crowd with a live DJ Friday and Saturday nights. Midweek is quieter if looking for a little relaxation in between the specialty cocktails and sushi. Or stay in the heart of Southampton at Hotel ZE . Post-dinner? Walk to Summer House, the new late-night lounge on the same property featuring an outdoor patio. In addition, you can check out Jue Lan Club, another new hot spot that includes a restaurant, nightclub and art gallery. While in Southampton, stop by for lunch or treats at Blue Duck Bakery. They offer soup, salads and sandwiches and are known for their artisan breads and delicious baked goods. For shopping, stop by the AUrate New York pop-up shop for fashionable jewelry. Added bonus: For every jewelry piece sold, AUrate offers a book to a child from an underrepresented environment. Another pop-up to visit is Blue One, the fashion boutique that carries trendy brands including denim label AMO and Paloma Barcelo espadrilles.
Bridgehampton
In Bridgehampton, stay at Topping Rose House, a full service hotel that also has cottages, as well as a studio and the main house. Spa services, a fitness center, and complimentary shuttle to the beach are available. In addition, a true farm-to-table restaurant is on site, featuring produce grown on the property. On the weekends, shop the Knockout Beauty pop up from Instagram’s @knockingonforty’s Cayli Cavaco Reck for your makeup and beauty finds, including calorescience and pursoma.
Summer is not the same unless BBQ is involved, so head to Townline (in Sagaponack), which is on the heels of celebrating their 10-year anniversary. You could also spend a relaxing afternoon sampling wine while gazing over acres of farmed vines at The Wölffer Estate Vineyard (in Sagaponack).
East Hampton
While in East Hampton, stay at the 1770 House, a boutique hotel and restaurant that are quite charming and filled with heritage. The restaurant serves locally sourced meats and seafood, and there is a historic tavern in the basement. Or book a stay at c/o The Maidstone that features a Scandinavian cozy design. Their on-site restaurant, The Living Room, is open for lunch and dinner. Have breakfast at local favorite, John Papas café and lunch at Bostwick’s. Also, make a point to visit Caravan at Bhumi Farms– A mobile farm stand that sells healthy prepared food made from locally sourced ingredients like an Amagansett Nicoise with potatoes, gem lettuce, olives and mackerel. For dinner, head to The Palm at Huntting Inn, an East Hampton tradition.
Just because you are on vacation doesn’t mean you skip your exercise routine. In case you forgot to pack your leggings, shop for gear at the Tory Sport store, (transformed from the Tory Burch boutique for the summer) for yoga, tennis, golf, running or coming and going ensembles. Looking for a bathing suit? Vilebrequin recently opened a beach style boutique in East Hampton, and has extended their collection to include women and girls. Or you can peruse White: The Capsule Collection at Everything But Water. An exclusive partnership with the retailer’s sought after designers including Solid & Striped, and Mara Hoffman. For shoe shopping, luxury footwear brand Aquazzura recently opened a pop up store selling spring/summer and pre-fall merchandise. The shop carries the brand’s signature styles as well as beach and urban flair. In addition, visit the Tomas Maier boutique as he newly launched a collection of sunglasses to his growing assortment.
Sag Harbor
Book a stay at The American Hotel in Sag Harbor, an upscale hotel that dates back from the mid 1800s. It is located a few short minutes away from the Jitney bus stop. The American Hotel also has a restaurant on-site open for lunch and dinner. Or stay at Baron’s Cove. It reopened last summer after a two-year overhaul, and is very beach house chic. Another bonus: Armarium, the on-demand app for borrowing luxury ready to wear and accessories has opened a pop-up shop at Baron’s Cove from July 22-July 31. Featured designers include Missoni, Ferragamo and Etro. Grindstone Coffee and Donuts is opening this summer in Sag Harbor. Yep, the doughnut craze is not dying down and why should it? Expect yummy doughnut treats dressed in classic glaze, strawberry shortcake and lemon poppy-seed. Combined with coffee and fresh-pressed juices is a dream come true.
Montauk
We know it’s a trek, but it’s totally worth it. Stay at Ruschmeyer’s for a modern take on cabin décor. The rooms even have hammocks! Or book a room at The Crow’s Nest. While at The Crow’s Nest, make sure to dine there as well, it is absolutely a beautiful space and you can’t beat the view. Montauk is also home to the new Residences at Gurneys, a limited collection of private oceanfront homes next door to Gurney’s Resort. Since it is part of Gurney’s, the private homes come with hotel amenities including butler service, access to Gurney’s spa, and the beach club. Speaking of Gurney’s, the resort is hosting Fashion Collective. Situated on Gurney’s Spa Roof Deck, weekly rotations of retail pop ups will sell merchandise each weekend until Labor Day Weekend. Participating brands include Otte and Swim Like a Mermaid, Mara Hoffman, Rebecca Taylor and Sandro. Or you could book a stay at The Surf Lodge, part boutique hotel, part restaurant, and part music venue draws a hip crowd on the weekends with fitness classes, concerts, and art exhibits. Shop at Surf Bazaar, nestled inside Surf Lodge this boutique features a curated collection of apparel and accessories by local artisans and designers and vintage finds. Eat at Duryea’s Lobster Deck. Under new ownership, this go to spot for its famous lobster rolls got a makeover- wood instead of plastic tables and a new family style menu. Shop Miansai’s pop up at Navy Beach. A silver airstream parked outside of the restaurant all summer features men and women’s accessories including a limited edition collaboration rope-cuff bracelet. A portion of the sale of the bracelet will be donated to the Navy SEAL Foundation.
Have drinks at Cowfish while taking in the scenic views of the water. While there, take the “Rumboat” which will take you across the bay to visit another hip restaurant worth visiting, Rumba’s. In addition for dining, try new restaurant Grey Lady, formerly occupied by Harbor. It features an outdoor patio on a back deck and serves local seafood fare including flounder and crab roulades and monkfish.
