What To Expect At The MUJI SoHo Store

Japanese lifestyle retailer Muji marked their 10thanniversary in the United States by revamping their original U.S. location in SoHo. The store, located at 455 Broadway bowed in 2007 and began renovations earlier last year. Now the favorite decor go to boutique features 7,000 square feet of retail space, spanning over two floors. Known for their minimalist design, Muji, (code for: No Brand, Quality Goods) offers a wide range of daily life products. It highlights items including streamlined travel gear, apparel, office supplies, and everything you could possibly need for your home in a simplified fashion.

“It is an honor to reopen MUJI’s first location in America, noted MUJI USA President, Toru Tsunoda. “When MUJI first opened the store ten years ago, we offered a curated selection of our most popular items, not knowing at the time how successful the brand would be to the American market. As a testament to the success of this location, and for the brand’s growing customer-base nationwide, we are thrilled to reopen to the SoHo community with a larger store and wider selection of offerings.”

The store mirrors the brand’s core philosophy of minimalism, sustainability and functionality. It was constructed with natural materials such as glass, brick and cement. The first floor houses men and women’s apparel, stationary, travel items, as well as a flagship-exclusive embroidery station. It also highlights a rotating food tasting area- giving guests the opportunity to sample treats like strawberries dipped in white chocolate, or a banana flavored layered cake, topped with sweet chocolate.

The lower level involves the home with items including furniture, kitchenware, tableware, skincare and diffusers. It also includes the SoHo exclusive, Good Day & Good Night- an essential oil duo, with ingredients comprising eucalyptus, French lavender and rosemary. Muji currently has 15 stores in the U.S. including a MUJI To Go store at JFK airport.
