These Are The Best Gin And Tonic Recipes To Celebrate G &T Day
April 9 marks International Gin & Tonic Day and has given us the occasion to revisit old cocktail recipes and craft new ones that are rooted in this wonderfully distilled drink. No why do people drink gin and tonic? Originally a remedy given by British doctors with lime or lemon peels to make it more palatable. It takes the best parts of two existing drinks and put them together.
Now that warmer weather is finally approaching, it has allowed us to sample flavorful and refreshing cocktails made with gin. Therefore, we thought this would be the ideal time to celebrate G& T Day with some of the best gin and tonic recipes.
So are you feeling the gin craze? We hope so as we share some delicious ways to drink more gin this spring/summer. Below is our list of cocktail recipes involving the most exciting spirit today, whether you fancy a traditional G & T or a Gin and Tonic variation with a unique twist that highlights the spirit’s exceptional blend of botanicals and smooth finish.
Spanish Gin & Tonic

Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 oz Spring 44 gin
- 5 oz Fever Tree Tonic
- Lime and lemon wheels
Method:
Add ice. Pour the gin and top with tonic water and stir. Garnish with lemon and lime wheels
Four Pillars Gin & Tonic
Ingredients:
- 1 oz. Four Pillars Rare Dry Gin
- 3 oz. Good Quality Tonic Water
- Orange or Grapefruit wedge
Method:
Add ice and your citrus first. Pour the gin over the ice then top with tonic water and stir.
Tot & Tonic
Available at The Shanty, Brooklyn
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ oz Perry’s Tot – Navy Strength Gin
- Club Soda
Method:
Add to a collins glass; fill with ice and top with chilled club soda. Garnish with a lime wedge and serve with a straw.
The Peeptini
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 oz Jaisalmer Gin
- 1/2 oz pink peppercorn syrup
- 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
- 1 oz pink grapefruit juice
- Peep Marshmallow Bunny, for garnish
Method:
Combine Jaisalmer Gin, peppercorn syrup, lemon juice and grapefruit juice in a shaker. Shake and double strain into a pre-chilled martini glass. Garnish with a Peep Marshmallow Bunny. (To make peppercorn simple syrup: add crushed pink peppercorns to a simple Monin sugar syrup to infuse.)
The London No 1 Gin & Tonic
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 oz. The London Nº1 Gin
- 6 oz. Tonic water
- Lemon peel
- Juniper berries
Method:
Fill a balloon glass with ice. The large diameter rim will bring out all of the nuances of the gin. Put lemon peel in the glass to boost the flavour of the gin. Gently swirl the ice to cool the glass. Then gradually add The London Nº1 until the bluish color is well-distributed throughout the glass. Add tonic water for each part of gin. Do so slowly so the bubbles remain strong. Garnish with an aromatic lime peel and add some juniper berries.

Colorado Dry Town G & T
Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz Dry Town Gin
- 0.25 oz. Lime Juice
- Fresh Cucumber and Rosemary to taste
- Tonic Water
Method:
Combine Dry Town Gin and lime juice in a cocktail glass with ice and top with tonic water. Garnish with a cucumber ribbon and a fresh rosemary sprig.
