Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week: Parkchoonmoo Spring 2015

Set to rhythmic electronic beats, Parkchoonmoo introduced the MBFW Pavilion crowd to a stunning Spring/Summer 2015 collection. In an elegant statement, the collection was largely monochromatic and neutral with many looks showcased in black and white with the occasional blocked print or brown accent. Many of the season’s recurring themes (leather, sheer overlay, draping silhouettes) were present in this collection as well but executed with an understated refinement that helped make the collection feel extremely cohesive instead of one that was chasing after trend. All of the looks were paired with modern variations of an open-toed espadrille. Parkchoonmoo’s vision of SS15 is one that’s simultaneously chic and forward thinking.

Proper Cloth Presentation Fall/Winter 2014

New York Fashion Week: Proper Cloth Collection

New York Fashion Week: Proper Cloth Presentation

Hosted by sponsors Esquire Magazine and Rogaine, menswear brand Proper Cloth went against the SS15 fashion week grain to showcase its FW14 looks. Once a specialty brand purely focused on custom-made men’s shirting, the dapper brand is now moving into a full menswear line. The event took place in a Tribeca venue specially dubbed The Esquire for this special fashion week gathering. With complimentary cocktails and hearty hors d’oeuvres on hand, the afternoon felt more like a swanky reception than just a simple fashion show. Throughout the show, the brand showcased sleek tailoring, classic masculine looks, and effortless layering. Designer Seph Skerritt was on hand after the show for a brief Q&A in which he expressed gratitude for the support from those in attendance and described the essence of Proper Cloth. The looks and materials are soft, unstructured, and comfortable creating a timeless look. Every detail of the clothing has been thoughtfully planned including the use of fabrics and unlined jackets. Rogaine “brand celebrity grooming expert” Diana Schmidtke was also on hand to discuss next season’s grooming trends and the inspiration for the “everyman” hair styles featured in the show. For the dapper man, Proper Cloth could become his new go-to.

New York Fashion Week: Katya Leonovich Spring 2015

Avant -garde designer Katya Leonovich unveiled her SS15 collection Saturday night at Pier 59 in Chelsea to a packed house. The collection definitely targets a daring woman with envelope-pushing styles. The looks were characterized by asymmetrical hemlines, heavy use of sheer garments, and contrast detailing. Key looks included leather cropped pants, an apple green asymmetrical mini, a lavender one- piece swimsuit, and a one-shoulder feathered top. The runway show was accented with pulsating electronic beats and aggressive spotlighting. All in all, the collection proved that Katya Leonovich is a major risk-taker but one with a sharp eye for tailoring and one of a kind styling.

Haze Collection Spring/Summer 2015 Presentation

Haze Collection Spring/Summer 2015

Eyewear Brand Haze Collection Unveils Spring 2015 Collection

Cutting edge eyewear brand Haze Collection hosted its SS15 presentation on the 24th floor penthouse of the Hudson Hotel Friday night. Models were either shirtless or dressed in neutral all white looks to ensure the one of a kind sunglasses were front and center. Many of the models on hand doubled as both spokespersons and visual representations of the brand.

The glasses feature a special swivel hinge that no other eyewear brand uses and sources the acetate for the glasses from Italy. Though the brand is up and coming, its styles have already been seen on celebrities like Rihanna and featured in high-end fashion mags like VMan. The brand aesthetic is equal parts Avant-garde and sophistication. If this presentation is any indication, these sunglasses will be the most sought after summer accessory in 2015.

Menswear Collective Runway Spring 2015

New York Fashion Week: Fashion Gallery’s Menswear Collective

Despite an early snafu involving a wax paper cover on the runway, Fashion Gallery’s Menswear Collective showing was a promising look into collections from six emerging designers. Those in attendance had the opportunity to view 6 stylistically different runway shows in one.

Blac Ivy’s dark street wear showcased elongated tees, lightweight bombers, and both muted and dark tones for an uncharacteristically chilly Spring/Summer 2015. Giofre built upon this theme emphasizing looks rooted in black that played with both loose-fitting and slim silhouettes. Noxiuz was the most vibrant collection of the bunch heavily emphasizing bold graphic prints on tees, pants, and socks.

Christian Bernard paid homage to Native American culture with in graphic print wovens, feather-detailed pullovers, and brown leather suiting. This collection drew even more attention with its barely there swimwear and the sole women’s look of the show-an autumn-inspired maxi dress. Daft Minerva and Figgie Shoes previewed a futuristic Spring/Summer 2015 with geometric prints and sheer leggings. Apollonius closed out the show with oversized black and white contrast looks reminiscent of Alexander Wang. All in all, the lively crowd saw a glimpse into a fearless SS15 for men.
