BANANA REPUBLIC: FALL 2016 PRESENTATION

The spirit and the rich history of France was the inspiration behind Banana Republic’s Fall 2016 collection. Now led by VP of Design Michael Anderson, the presentation included men’s and women’s apparel for Fall 2016. We always love the Parisian style of dress and this collection incorporated every bit of it. The wardrobe that at times features not so basic staples yet somehow always looks flawless and tailored was revealed in a woman’s wool suit featuring raw edged trim in Cayenne red styled with a blush merino wool turtleneck. For men, the collection highlighted a tailored assortment as well in neutral tones. A double- breasted suit was paired with a stripe tee and leather sneakers to give a simple but polished vibe. Women’s trousers were cropped and often showcased a pleated shine. Highlights included a pieced leather trench paired with a black and white stripe turtleneck with cropped black pants and an oversized haircalf clutch. Good news to clients: Banana Republic is getting behind the budding movement of NYFW going directly to the consumer. In addition to presenting their fall 2016 collection to editors, buyers and stylists, this week, the retailer curated a limited-edition capsule of Fall 2016 styles made available for customers to shop from the presentation via their Instagram account. The capsule collection features six womenswear items in a mix of prints and solids including a wool coat fabricated exclusively in an Italian mill, a boyfriend cardigan, a silk printed dress and top and a metallic fold-over pouch. Quantities are limited; there are 100 units of each item, all labeled with a unique hangtag revealing the number of units created for the collection.
