Delicious And Extremely Effective Whiskey Cocktails To Enjoy The Last Days of Summer
Whiskey is best sipped on the rocks. However, there are some days you would prefer the malt to whet your palette in delicious and intriguing ways. As we celebrate the last moments of summer, (while anxiously waiting for colorful fall foliage and cozy sweaters, ) we wanted to share some whiskey-based cocktails worth sipping. From a savory aperitif for cocktail hour to a lemonade concoction fit for an End of Summer Bash, these easy to make whiskey cocktails are light and refreshing while still letting the flavors of the whiskey shine through.
High West Whiskey Sour
Ingredients:
- 2 oz High West Double Rye!
- 0.75 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
- 0.5 oz Simple Syrup
- 1 Egg White
- Brandied Cherries Garnish
Method:
Chill a martini glass. Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake until chilled. Next, strain back into the cocktail shaker and shake again with no ice (reverse dry shake). Now, double strain into a chilled martini glass. Then, garnish with Angostura bitters and brandied cherries.
Angel of Tombstone
Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz High West Double Rye!
- 0.5 oz Amaro Nonino
- 0.5 oz Sweet Vermouth
Method:
Combine all ingredients into a mixing glass, add ice and stir to chill. Then, strain cocktail into a flask and enjoy a great cocktail on the go.
Proper Lemonade
Ingredients:
- 1-part Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey
- 4 parts Lemonade
Method:
To begin, fill glass with ice. Next, add Proper No. Twelve and lemonade. Garnish with a slice on lemon.
Proper Peaches
Ingredients:
- 2 parts Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey
- 1/2-part simple syrup
- 1 peach, diced
- 3-4 mint leaves
- Splash of soda water
Method:
Muddle peaches, simple syrup & mint leaves in a shaker. Add Proper No. Twelve and fill shaker with ice. Strain into rocks glass over fresh ice. Top with a splash of soda water. Garnish with mint leaves and a peach slice
Proper Palmer
Ingredients:
- 2 parts Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey
- 2 parts Lemonade
- 2 parts Iced Tea
Method:
Pour Proper No. Twelve over ice. Add lemonade and iced tea. Stir. Now, garnish with lemon slice.
Koji Collins
Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz High West Rendezvous Rye Whiskey
- 0.5 oz Pineapple Rum
- 0.25 oz Amaro Montenegro
- 0.75 oz Miso Syrup
- 0.75 oz Lime Juice
- Bar Spoon Yuzu
- Mint sprig & Chinese 5 Spice Garnish
Method:
Combine all ingredients except soda water to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake until chilled. Double strain into a Collins glass with ice and top with soda water. To complete, garnish with a mint sprig.
High West Cobbler – Payroll Train
Ingredients:
- 0.5 oz High West Double Rye Whiskey
- 1.5 oz Mixed Berry-infused Oloroso*
- 0.5 oz Amaro Ciociaro
- 0.5 oz Cinnamon syrup
- 0.5 oz Lemon Juice
- 0.25 oz Smith & Cross
Method:
Add all ingredients and short shake. Next, strain over crushed ice into cobbler glass, and garnish with berries and mint.
*Mixed Berry-infused Oloroso – Fill a quart container with mixed berries (raspberries, cherries, blackberries), cover with oloroso, allow to infuse for 72 hrs at room temperature, strain off. Use within 2 weeks
Horse’s Neck
Ingredients:
- 2 oz. High West Double Rye!
- .25 oz. fresh ginger juice
- .25 oz. fresh squeezed lemon juice
- 2 oz. light ginger beer
- Lemon twist garnish
Method:
Fill an Old-Fashioned glass with chip ice. Pour ingredients into Old Fashioned Glass and garnish with a lemon twist.
