The Rainbow Room Gets A Makeover
New York City’s historic landmark and iconic restaurant positioned on the 65th floor of 30 Rockefeller Plaza will reopen on Sunday, October 5. The Rainbow Room which closed in 2009, will now be open Sundays for brunch and Monday evenings for dinner and Tuesday through Saturday for private events. In addition, the restaurant will open for dinner on most holidays such as Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day. The Rainbow Room first opened its doors 80 years ago as a formal supper club where celebrities and New York’s most influential mingled, dined and danced on the revolving floor. The fine dining restaurant underwent a full restoration by architectural firm Gabellini Sheppard Associates, preserving the glamour and elegance it was known for including the crystal chandelier and crystal wall sconces. Renowned Chef Jonathan Wright has created a classic and contemporary American cuisine menu presenting a dining experience to showcase the luxurious room. The restoration also included a cocktail lounge adjacent to the Rainbow Room called SixtyFive, featuring outdoor seating that will be open five nights a week serving classic and contemporary cocktails.
