Daniel Silverstain Fall 2015

Daniel Silverstain Fall 2015

For Fall 2015, Daniel Silverstain was inspired by his personal travels to India and its rich heritage and architecture. Focusing on the viewpoint of the “New Tourists” during the 1960’s, envision a modern take on the world and its culture. The collection featured at times vibrant hues, and textures and shapes combining to produce clean geometric silhouettes. The result? Looks incorporating the Jaali, a perforated stone or latticed screen, frequently constructed through the use of calligraphy and geometry. This was apparent in a leather shirt dress in Indie Blue and a black cotton trench kaftan, paired with an olive herringbone/leather combo shorts.

Yoplait Creates Signature Collection With Christopher Straub

Blueberry sketch

Just in time for New York Fashion Week, yogurt favored Yoplait introduced a limited edition Signature Collection of yogurt cups styled by Project Runway alum, Christopher Straub at a private event held at Mercedes-Benz Lincoln Center. The Yoplait Signature Collection is available in six fashionable flavors and sold exclusively at Target. To fete the snack collaboration, Straub was on hand to deliver a fashion forward experience by showcasing the dresses and sketches that inspired the six delectable flavors while guests sampled some with granola and fruit toppings including harvest peach, strawberry, orange crème, blueberry patch, key lime pie and strawberries n bananas. On top of creating the limited edition cups, Straub designed two original gowns using Yoplait cups and lids that were also on display. “For me, fashion design is more than designing clothing-its about translating real-life textures and lines into statement pieces,” noted Straub. “I wanted to find the personality in each flavor and bring it front and center”.

Elizabeth and James Fall 2015

Designers Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen drew their inspiration for the Elizabeth and James Fall 2015 collection from the chic muses of the 70’s. Keeping with the duo’s design appeal of coupling feminine detail with masculine design, loyal fans of Elizabeth & James will not be disappointed. The collection infused a Bohemian style of dressing with a sexy edge. A short sleeveless dress with lace-up details and fringe and a printed key-hole dress with a tie will please most. Or if looking for subtle seductiveness, a black turtleneck dress with a high slit, and a key-hole blouse with tie paired with a calf-length skirt with a high slit are sure to please. The collection included chunky knits, and rich textures found in sweaters, and outerwear. Highlights include a Mongolian fur jacket with hood. Accessories are exciting, including an oversized leather bag with fringe and a leather bucket-style knapsack with gold zipper detail.

Alice + Olivia Fall 2015 Presentation

The Alice + Olivia Fall 2015 collection by Stacey Bendet was inspired by the rock and roll era of London of the late 60’s and early 70’s. The Prince George Ballroom was the venue for this season’s presentation and was filled with a bevy of models outfitted in the must- haves for fall while tunes such as The Doors “Light my Fire” and “Sunshine Superman” by Donovan played in the background. Texture is the new print for fall as models were decked in sometimes rich, and textured fabrics, maxi dresses with lace details, and graphic diamond designs. The Alice + Olivia girl is attracted to layering as seen in winter shorts paired with long tops and coordinating jackets. As Bendet noted, “This season is about personal expression. It is about bold femininity. It is about glamour. The clothes have a true rock and roll vibe while being simultaneously very romantic.” The color palette included winter white, black and camel as well as rich jewel tones of dark reds, greens and blues.
