Madewell Fall 2015 Presentation
/in Fashion/by Stephanie RedheadFor Fall 2015, Madewell took into consideration the transition of the season, and how one dresses for it by layering. Madewell’s head of design, Somsack Sikhounmuong and his design team channeled the fashions of London during the 1960’s- whether it was boarding school threads, including chunky knit sweaters and long skirts decked with highland tartans and army green jackets, to dark denim with leather. Highlights include cozy ensembles and classics updated with texture. We also loved the suggestion of blanketing outfits to add warmth and protection for the days strolling in the city and enjoying fall’s foliage.

Wildfox Fall 2015
/in Fashion/by Stephanie Redhead
Where is the best place to escape the wintry mix of the city? The Amalfi Coast, of course. That was the inspiration Creative Director Kimberley Gordon envisioned for Wildfox ‘s Fall 2015 Collection, La Dolce Vita. On Thursday evening Wildfox, the LA-based women’s apparel line, transformed Little Italy’s restaurant Il Cortile into that dreamlike vacation along Italy’s Amalfi Coast for their presentation. Models were styled signifying three categories: Il Pastello, (Pastel Gelato Girls), Vingeto (Vineyard Girls), and Cameriera (Restaurant Girls) while attendees noshed on calzones and pizza and wine featuring Riunite Lambrusco, and Tomaiolo Chianti Classico Riserva. “I kept feeling like I didn’t want summer to end,” noted Gordon. “ I’d been looking through Slim Aarons’ “La Dolce Vita” and I wanted to slip inside the book and onto the lounge chairs. When you start designing for fall, it’s fun because you can play with knits and jackets, but I find it hard to have to get so dark and cold with colors! I thought about where you could be that fall could feel like a continuation of summer…a permanent vacation.” The collection features sweaters in vintage lace paired with shorts and skirts in coral paint and fun tunics that read, Talk Italian to Me and Ciao Bella. The fall 2015 collection will be available beginning July at the company’s flagship store in Sunset Plaza, Shopbop, and select department stores including Bloomingdale’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and online at wildfox.com. In addition, Wildfox is teaming up with Elizabeth Arden to present their first fragrance that will launch this summer.
