Snoopy And Belle In Fashion Exhibit Arrives In New York

Charlie Brown’s pet beagle, Snoopy, and his sister Belle are making a bold fashion statement next month in an exhibit entitled, “Snoopy and Belle in Fashion” that will be unveiled at the New Museum during New York Fashion Week, following international exhibitions in Paris, Milan and Tokyo in 2015. The exhibit will feature designs exclusively for the Peanuts characters outfitted by fashion designers including Diane Von Furstenberg, Betsey Johnson, Anna Sui, DKNY, Opening Ceremony, Rodarte and Zac Posen. “Snoopy and Belle In Fashion” will make its debut as Peanuts gets ready to fête their 65th anniversary of the comic strip. It is also celebrating the 30th anniversary of the “Snoopy in Fashion” exhibit that was displayed at The Louvre and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and throughout Europe and Asia in 1980 featuring designers Karl Lagerfeld, Oscar de la Renta, Bob Mackie, and Thierry Mugler.

“I’ve been pleased to be a part of the original ‘Snoopy In Fashion’ exhibition 30 years ago and again in ‘Snoopy and Belle in Fashion’ 2014,” noted Diane Von Furstenberg. “It’s a unique design challenge, and one that brings a new kind of creative joy to the design process. I’m inspired to empower a new generation with a character I love so much.” In appreciation for the designers’ involvement in the affair, Peanuts will make a contribution to their charity of choice.
