ShopStyle Social House Offers The Best Fashion Week Experience

One of the best things about Fashion Week is the opportunity to see emerging designers and to meet with individuals that share similar interest. Thanks to our friends at ShopStyle Social House we were able to connect with top brands and retailers such as Neiman Marcus, French Connection, Derek Lam 10 Crosby, and Daniel Wellington to share the latest trends and our style tips with our readers. Since this season entailed traveling uptown, downtown, and across town through snow, wind and rain the daily thought that entered my mind was, “What am I going to wear?” Here is my journal of style tricks that worked:

Day # 5 NYFW

When the weather gets unpleasant during Fashion Week, I pretty much live in a heavy coat and a beanie. Remember, there are many fashionable ways to stay warm and stylish and a beanie is chic way to embrace the winter weather. Today’s first stop was at the Met for the Costume Institute presentation on the upcoming exhibit, “Manus x Machina” and the forecast called for snow. Leather pants have always been a go to for me when it comes to cold weather so I decided to sport a Derek Lam 10 Crosby navy embroidered shirred blouse and Iris & Ink navy cropped stretch leather leggings with Michael Kors boots under my Ralph Lauren coat and beanie by Top Shop.

Day #6 NYFW

Today’s forecast called for rain. With a full day of shows with little to no breaks in between, practicality was key and waterproof elements were required. It is not that difficult to stay stylish in the showers, and a little rain was not going to ruin my fashion parade. Today’s outfit called for layering, an umbrella that stands out in the crowd, making it difficult to lose, and boots that make you feel confident splashing through puddles. I wore a wool blend robe coat by Iris & Ink, over a black turtleneck by Ralph Lauren and Levis jeans and boots by Tory Burch. Since this was an all day affair, a tote was necessary so I carried my favorite tote by Ralph Lauren.

Day #7 NYFW

You can never go wrong wearing a dress especially when attending the many fashion week after parties. When your dress has details, I like to keep my accessories minimal to draw more attention to the dress. This one by Derek Lam 10 Crosby is a favorite. It is a shift style in silk navy with grommet details at the hem.

Day #8 NYFW

Like the song says, after the show, is the after-party. Thankfully this is my last party of the night. We were celebrating the amazing Bibhu Mohapatra fall runway collection. Mr. Mohapatra was in great spirits and mingled with guests at his post-show celebration. Familiar faces were spotted, dressed in everything from evening dresses to decked out jeans and T’s. I decided to don a sexy lace and crochet LBD by French Connection paired with black tights , a Marc Jacobs satin clutch and Michael Kors ankle boots.
