Reflecting Prince’s Top Fashion Looks
This weekend as I continued to mourn the loss of my favorite musician Prince Rogers Nelson, I finally felt composed enough to listen to his catalog of recordings and view photos of Prince’s top fashion looks, some of them still in their original packaging. Instead of grieving, I am celebrating his music and his influence that can be felt all over the world. As he once mentioned, “If you ever lose someone dear to you, never say the words, ‘they’re gone’. They’ll comeback.” So as I review images of Prince with his fearless sense of style, today I am celebrating a fashion icon. His flair for fashion was legendary. Beginning with his early on-air performances donning thigh high stockings and fingerless lace, ruffled blouses and stacked heels, his butt-revealing suit worn during his MTV Video Music Awards performance is still a topic of conversation. In his later years, Prince was persistent in turning heads showing up in boldly tailored suits and embellished jackets he often sported and of course his funky fresh afro. He was a definite risk-taker on and off the red carpet and he owned it. Prince’s penchant for colorful, and sometimes bedazzled ensembles will continue to inspire the fashion and music industry. From the runways of Gucci, Balmain and Versace to watching Bruno Mars, Usher and Justin Timberlake on stage demonstrates he has touched many. So while I reflect and listen to HitNRUN Phases One and Two here is a curated list of Prince’s iconoclastic fashion looks.
