Desigual Fall 2014
New York Fashion Week: Desigual Fall 2014
The mood at Desigual was upbeat and cheerful. Models sauntered down the polka-dot covered runway in geometric prints, pop art faces, and plenty of polka dots.
The collection was all about falling back in love with their hometown of Barcelona. “We love our port, we bask in our Gaudi buildings with their kaleidoscope feel, and we adore the many faces of our fellow city dwellers. Violet, navy, hunter green, burgundy, tawny are draped and tailored into minimalist simplicity radiating positivity in sumptuous jacquard, tulle, and wool.”
The show opened with a mini A-line dress in matte stretch satin with pop-art floral print on top of oversized polka dots. The show progressed to reveal a bevy of different patterns and colors including a silk maxi-dress with artisan embroidered gold sequins and a circular print shift with transparent tulle yoke and trapezoidal bowler-style bag. Lastly, an ecru jacket with artisan embroidered gold sequins and gold lame sleeves brought the show to a close.
The finale felt like a party. Models dancing and tossing heart shaped trinkets into the air in groups of three, all the while giving the crowd one last look. Desigual’s motto is La Vida Es Chula (love is always in the air) and they certainly brought their love of Spain to New York Fashion Week.
