Models Reveal All-Natural Recipes For DIY Beauty Treatments
During the colder months, I like to stay at home as much as possible and indulge in cool beauty treatments. My skin tends to get dry and itchy as the temperature drops. And the harsh winds, and increased heat in home and offices does not help matters. Since I work with numerous models, which have the best skin, hair and nails we constantly swap tips on beauty treatments. Thanks to our chats I have amazing DIY recipes for facials, the body, cuticles, lips and feet. Some of the best remedies are all-natural, and include simple ingredients.
Here are 5 DIY Beauty Treatments to help beat dry winter skin:
Oatmeal Facial Mask
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 2 tbs Epsom salt
- 1 cup water
- 1 tsp. honey
Mix the ingredients together until they are combined. Wet your face before you apply the mixture to your skin in circular motions, covering your face evenly. Once the mixture is applied, leave the mask on for 5 minutes. Next, rinse your face with warm water.
Moisturizing Lip Treatment
- 3 tbsp. Epsom salt
- 1 fresh strawberry (remove the stem)
- 1 tbsp. of olive oil
Crush 1 fresh strawberry and mix it with the Epsom salt mixture. Apply the mixture to your lips using gentle circular motions. Do this for 2 minutes, and then rinse with warm water. This recipe can also be applied to create a body scrub by increasing the ingredients proportionately.
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1 tbsp. Epsom salt
- 2 tbsp. coconut oil
- 1 – 3 drops of essential oil of your choice
Combine the ingredients in a shallow bowl, then dip your fingers (or toes) into the mixture and let soak for 5-10 minutes. After soaking, your cuticles should be soft and moisturized and will be easier to cut and/or push back.
Mix the ingredients together in a bowl until well combined. Apply a thin layer onto your skin by massaging in circular motions. Store the remainder of the mixture in an air -tight container to use again!
Moisturizing Foot Scrub
- 1 tbsp. Epsom Salt
- 1 avocado
- ¼ cup cornmeal
Scoop out the avocado and mash it in a bowl. Add the cornmeal and Epsom salt to the mixture and combine well before applying the mixture to your feet in circular motions. Let your feet set for 5 minutes and rinse with warm water. For stubborn calluses or dry spots, rub the inside of the avocado peel onto your skin. The avocado oil will aid in softening your skin.
