It’s Cocktail Hour: Where To Go When The Sun Goes Down
When meeting friends for after work drinks, or what we call it, cocktail hour, we like to unwind at a space that is inviting, has a great view, and a certain je ne sais quoi. Brigitte, the new French restaurant with a hint of both Brazilian and Mediterranean style matches that description perfectly. This is our new hot spot to wine and dine in New York. Located in the Two Bridges neighborhood in NYC, this once quiet area nestled at the southern end of the Lower East Side and Chinatown is now at the brink of change.
Two Bridges is buzzing with new residential properties, coffee shops, and boutiques to buy art and music, as well as attractive restaurants. Brigitte is situated on the corner at 37 Canal Street. Floor- to- ceiling windows make up the façade of the restaurant which means there isn’t a bad seat to sip verres de vin while watching passerby. The walls are adorned with photos of various unapologetically chic women illustrating the Brigitte girl: Beautiful, high-spirited, and poised.
Meet your squad here for Brigitte’s European-inspired L’heure de l’apéro from 5:30- 7:30, the moment between the workday and the dinner hour. Compared to an American Happy Hour, Apéro doesn’t just involve drinks; snacks are equally highlighted. The menu features Marinated olives paired with a Negroni ($9) and ½ dozen oysters served with Sparking Wine ($15). It also includes a flourless socca accompanied by 2 cocktails: Anything from a Sparkling French Blonde with Gin and Lillet Blanc, to a Wild Lady, incorporating Redemption Rye, Mike’s Hot Honey and lemon juice, ($20). Stay for dinner: Standouts include the Whole Sea Bream with lemon dressing and roasted thyme and the Smoked Paprika Octopus. Santé!
