The classic Italian cocktail is simple yet elegant mixture that is refreshing- not too boozy, resulting in a balance between sweet and savory, also known as true harmony. It is the perfect pre-dinner cocktail, afternoon sip, or anything in between. The Negroni is a drink for all occasions and any time of day. When Imbibe Magazine launched Negroni Week in 2013 in an effort to raise money for charitable causes around the world, it solidified why Negroni is the best cocktail.
So here’s how to drink and appreciate a Negroni- From September 18- 24, bars and restaurants globally will stir classic Negronis and Negroni variations for a cause and show you how to drink it. What also makes a Negroni the best cocktail is its versatility. Different gins and vermouths can modify the taste. Gin can get swapped out for tequila, or bourbon to make a boulevardier. As a guide, Negronis are typically served in a rocks glass with a large single ice cube to chill the mixture without diluting it, and garnished with with an orange peel. Negronis have a bold, complex flavor so take a moment to inhale the aroma, and sip slowly.
