Macy’s Presents Heart Truth’s Red Dress Collection 2017

Macy’s presented Heart Truth’s American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women Red Dress Collection for 2017. The glamorous event brings awareness on the fact that cardiovascular diseases kill nearly 1 in 3 women each year. Founded by The Heart Truth, the event drew celebrities including Katie Holmes, Juliette Lewis, Lynn Whitfield, Maureen McCormick and Bridget Moynahan. Notables walked the runway in red to raise awareness to help save the lives of women everywhere. Designs from labels such as Marchesa, Herve Leger, Carmen Marc Valvo and Escada wowed the crowd at Hammerstein Ballroom. Macy’s helped raised more than $60 million for this cause since 2004.

With the power of education, and lifestyle changes, women have the influence to alter the outcome. It is alarming to know that heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the United States. During a heart attack, women do not suffer from chest pains like men. The symptoms tend to differ such as jaw aching, shortness of breath, panic attacks, and chest discomfort and stomach pains.

So let’s take action to protect the heart. Visit your doctor for regular check-ups, and pay attention to your body. Exercise regularly, eat healthy, limit alcohol consumption, reduce stress and keep blood pressure low. To learn more about maintaining a heart-healthy lifestyle visit hearttruth.gov
