There’s No Denying GlenDronach Is Original By Design
Scotch whisky brand, GlenDronach arrived Wednesday evening at The Rickey in Midtown to host an intimate tasting gathering. The vintage-style cocktail lounge that served the specialty cocktail, Uptown Gold, was the ideal setting to experience an estimable scotch and its rich heritage. GlenDronach is celebrated as master of sherry cask maturation, and is recognized for true Highland style single malt scotch whiskies.
A tasting led by Global Whisky Ambassador Stewart Buchanan captivated the sophisticated set as they learned about Scotland’s oldest distilleries. A variety of expressions were sampled, including the 12-year old original, 18-year old Allardice, 21 year-old Parliament, and the new limited release, GlenDronach Grandeur 24-year old.
GlenDronach 12-Year Old Original ($65) Because of its long maturation in sherry casks, it features notes of sweet, creamy vanilla aromas with hints of ginger and autumn fruits. This is a great introduction for its long, full and slightly nutty taste.
GlenDronach 18 Year-Old Allardice ($160) A perfect balance of depth, sweetness, and flavor. It highlights richly sherried malt with sweet aromatics of fudge and muscovado sugar. The taste resembles rich, dark flavors of sweet fruits and allspice.
GlenDronach Grandeur 21 Year Old Parliament ($275-$300) One of our top favorites, and should be enjoyed slowly. It was named after the Parliament of rocks that have been nesting in the trees overlooking the distillery for nearly 200 years. We love that it is infused with spice notes of cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg.
GlenDronach Grandeur 24 Year Old ($650+) Developed in sherry casks from birth, the 24-year-old expression absolutely exemplifies the smooth, complex and full-bodied style in which The GlenDronach is well known for. This GlenDronach Grandeur Batch 9 is 48 % ABV, non-chill filtered, and of natural color. There are 1,487 bottles produced, where each is sealed with wax and individually numbered by hand, making it a great gift for both a collector and connoisseur. Curious about the Uptown Gold cocktail? We listed the recipe below for you experience- Enjoy!
