Curls, Conversation & The Crown Act Delight Attendees At the 6th Annual Curlfest
Curlfest, the ultimate glam festival celebrating the natural beauty of curls, afros, twist-outs and more took over New York City this weekend. The two-day festival brought together premiere brands in natural beauty, curated fashion vendors, live art installations, beats and vibes at Randall’s Island and Brooklyn, NY.
The 6th Annual event marked a monumental year heightened by the recent passing of The Crown Act, which prohibits race discrimination based on natural hair or hairstyles in the state of New York. Day one kicked off with an extravaganza held at Randall’s Island Park featuring brands SheaMoisture, DevaCurl, EDEN Bodyworks, Mielle Organics, Phyto Specific, Urban Skin Rx, Primark, and Crème of Nature.
The main stage held Conversations on Empowerment, and panel discussions ranging in topics from the Importance Of Legalizing Natural Beauty, How To Be An Influencer, and What Men Have To Say On Beauty Rituals In The Bedroom.
Day two’s festivities had guests flock to Brooklyn’s Prospect Park to a Curlfest Roller Set which celebrated the fashion, beauty and tunes of the 80s and 90s that made you want to glide across the floor on eight wheels. If you missed the NYC takeover, not to worry. The next experience will be held in Atlanta on September 21.
