Monique Lhuillier Opens Uptown

Last week the Upper East Side welcomed new neighbor, Monique Lhuillier, as she opened her New York Flagship Salon in a brownstone at 19 E. 71st Street. The salon nestled between Fifth and Madison Avenue was a 19th century 2- story townhouse. The street level carries her ready-to-wear line, including accessories, while the top level is an intimate bridal salon. Overall, the store invites a warm and luxurious setting that is quite charming. The bridal salon is decorated in soft greys and equipped with a fireplace, and various rooms decorated with Waterford chandeliers. To honor the occasion, an intimate fete ensued with a few close friends including Muffie Potter Aston, Jamie Tisch, and Kelly Rutherford. Guests were treated to mini wedding cupcakes and champagne while enjoying tunes spun by Harley Viera-Newton.

Levi’s Spring/Summer 2013

Inspired by India and the spirit of transformation from old to new, Levi’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection brought back from their voyage a transcendent culture found in bold color block stripes, shibori-inspired prints in a range of patterns and techniques. This season also marks the rollout worldwide of Levis footwear, formed in-house. The India-inspired theme is also shown in footwear with colored suede desert boots, and unique woven leathers.

Beginning January 2013, Levi’s will introduce globally a new collection called Waste<Less made of denim for both men and women incorporating post-consumer waste, specifically recycled plastic bottles and food trays. “By adding value to waste, we hope to change the way people think about recycling, ultimately incentivizing them to do more of it,” said James Curleigh, global president of the Levi’s brand. “This collection proves that you don’t have to sacrifice quality, comfort or style to give an end a new beginning.” Each Levi’sWaste<Less product will include a minimum of 20% post-consumer recycled content, or, on average, eight bottles per jean.

We also received a sneak peek to a new collaboration between that will unveil next year so stay tuned….
