New York Fashion Week Celebrates Barbie Designer Collaborations
Barbie made headlines during New York Fashion Week with her new Instagram @barbiestyle and by teaming up with the Council of Fashion Designers of America to showcase five CFDA designers’ one-of-a-kind looks inspired by the new tech gadget, Barbie Fashion Design Maker. A VIP affair including Barbie, Chief Executive Officer of the CFDA Steven Kolb, and the CFDA designers was held at the Barbie & CFDA Fashion Lounge in the Meatpacking District. The designers and Kolb were on hand to discuss the Barbie designer collaborations and their looks and inspiration as well as the app to media. Designers Cynthia Ronson, Cynthia Vincent, Rebecca Taylor, Whitney Pozgay of WHIT, and Tess Giberson, created looks from the App that allows Barbie fans to create fabulous designs including accessories of their own for their doll and print them on exclusive fabrics that will be released this fall. The Barbie Fashion Design Maker kit retails for $50 and includes eight sheets of printable fabric that will transform fashions from 2D to 3D.
