American Ballet Theatre Fetes Spring Season With Annual Gala in New York City
The American Ballet Theatre recently held its annual spring gala at the Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center. This year, the evening featured ABT’s celebrated dancers in the New York premiere of Alexei Ratmansky’s Whipped Cream. The ballet tells the story of a young boy who overindulges at a Viennese pastry shop and begins to fantasize of dancing baked goods. Whipped Cream is set in Vienna, Austria with beautiful sets and costumes designed by Mark Ryden featuring Swarovski crystals.
Swarovski was the Lead Partner for ABT’s Spring Gala where nearly 80,000 Swarovski crystals embellished the sets and costumes. “As supporting excellence in the creative arts is of great importance to us, Swarovski is delighted to partner with American Ballet Theatre on its Spring Gala and to collaborate with Mark Ryden on this wildly imaginative production.” Noted Nadja Swarovski, Member of the Swarovski Executive Board. “Mark’s creative integration of Swarovski crystals illuminates the action and helps bring the set and costume designs to life.”
Co-Chairs for the evening included Diane Kruger, Katie Holmes, Kate Bosworth, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Sofia Coppola, Amy Astley, Giovanna Battaglia, Anh Duong, Calvin Klein, Allison Sarofim, Sarah Arison, Elettra Wiedemann and Beth Chartoff Spector.
