New York City is home to some the best hotels in the world. And now, visitors seeking a trendy spot to stay in Midtown that offers tech-friendly perks at an affordable rate can head to The Moxy Times Square. It is located in the historic New Mills Hotel on the corner of Seventh Avenue and 36th street, and has kept with the location’s tradition by offering affordable accommodations. The Moxy Times Square is a boutique hotel concept equipped for the modern traveler.   It is part of Marriott International’s newest design-driven brand that debuted in 2014. It marks the brand’s 15th hotel opening, and the first of five scheduled to arrive in New York City. To celebrate, a launch party was held Wednesday night that brought notables including Victor Cruz, Chanel Iman, Coco Rocha, and Malin Akerman. This is New York’s latest hotspot, as Heidi Klum’s Annual Halloween party will take place here as well.

Moxy Times Square reinvents the traditional hotel experience featuring 612 cozy bedrooms ranging in size from 150 to 350 square feet. Several different room variations are offered to appeal to guests. If seeking a “traditional accommodation”, King and Queen rooms would be the go to. A “Twin Quad” room that features four twin beds is ideal for a group of friends, and a “Crash Pad” is offered for someone looking for a place to, you know, crash for the night.

The hotel, developed by Lightstone Group partnered with Yabu Pushelberg on the design of the bedrooms and public spaces, TAO Group on the food and beverage offerings, and Rockwell Group on the design of the restaurant and bar space. It also enlisted New Stand to run retail operations for the hotel.

“Travelers’ needs are rapidly evolving, and the hotel industry is still playing catch-up,” noted Mitchell Hochberg, President of Lightstone. “With Moxy Times Square, we wanted to create something that fulfills the modern traveler’s desires—that, after all, is what really defines hospitality today, more than gratuitous services or frivolous amenities. Today’s travelers don’t need a newspaper at their door, or a mint on their pillow. They want to be engaged by unique experiences that create a sense of place. We believe a hotel can do all that while remaining accessibly priced—and never sacrificing on style or comfort.”

The TAO Group crafted new eateries: Legasea, a seafood brasserie that highlights local, sustainable seafood dishes, Egghead, an egg-centric all-day breakfast hangout, and an all-season hotel rooftop bar and lounge called, Magic Hour. It features an “urban-like amusement park” with a miniature putt-putt course called Foreplay, and fantastic skyline views of the Empire State Building. Definitely Insta-worthy!
