Dianne Reeves Captivates Guests At Annual Columbia Children’s Gala

The Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall recently played host to the Fifth Annual Columbia Children’s Gala.  Guests arrived to music performed by CUIMC Jazz Quartet during cocktail hour followed by dinner.

The event that brought celebrities, supporters, Board members and donors raised over $1.5 million in funding that will benefit Columbia’s Center for Rare Pediatric Genetic Diseases. It is leading the identification of undiagnosed children’s diseases.

In four years, Columbia Children’s Gala has raised more $5 million for innovative research programs and vital support services that benefit young patients. From the complex care center, cardiac research, clinical trials, to this year’s emphasis on Center For Rare Pediatric Genetic Diseases, it is apparent Columbia University’s commitment to making a difference in children’s lives.

The gala honored Wendy Chung, M.D., Ph.D., who has led the program.  Dr. Chung along with her colleagues have identified more than 38 previously unknown genetic diseases and are determined to find cures. Their mission is to be the leading location for gene editing and gene therapy, as well as the worldwide destination for patients with rare genetic disorders.  A special performance by five-time Grammy award winner Dianne Reeves closed the evening as she captivated guests with her effortlessly powerful sound.
