FIAF Reveals How To Celebrate Bastille Day Like A True Parisian In NYC

Now that the Fourth of July has come and gone, there’s another red, white, and blue holiday to fete . Bastille Day on July 14 celebrates the invasion of Bastille, a political prison that embodied royal authority.  It was also the turning point in the French Revolution that led to the end of the monarchy.  The French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) will fete New York’s largest annual celebration of Franco-American Culture with Bastille Day on 60thStreet.

Since we are miles away from the parade held on Champs-Elysées Avenue in Paris, a fun-filled festivity on East 60th Street between Fifth and Lexington Avenues will take place on Sunday, July 15. The street fair, which has attracted more than 40,000 attendees in the past will continue its practice in providing food, film, and live entertainment for the entire family.  The street fair will highlight champagne tastings from vintages including Pol Roger, Ayala, Champagne Delamotte, and Besserat de Bellefon, as well as sparkling cocktails courtesy of Grand Marnier.  It will also feature wines provided by Sud de France, Kronenbourg beer, a special screening of the 2017 film Le Brio, and live performances. A  free World Cup Final screening  will also be provided to view Les Bleus as they advance to the championship. And, in true Parisien form, good sandwiches involving freshly baked baguettes and pastries are sure to be on hand from Maman Bakery and Voilà Chocolat. Bastille Day on 60thstreet will also incorporate a French-themed market showcasing Dominique Ansel Kitchen, Epicerie Boulud, Le Souk, Le Bec Fin Fine Foods, and a French garden that will showcase a premium shopping area highlighting fashionable boutiques such as Jérôme Dreyfus, Emma & Chloé, Tissage Moutet and 727 Sailbags.   So after

Citroën Bastille Day Rally & Rendezvous head to Bastille Day on 60th street, enjoy the fun, the food, and also the prize drawings.  Raffles this year include a seven-day excursion to Martinique as well as the three-night stay in in Paris.  Santé !
