Shep Gordon is not just a mensch… he’s Supermensch. As he was referred in Mike Myer’s 2013 documentary, Supermensch The Legend of Shep Gordon, and the name of his first tome, They Call Me Supermensch: A Backstage Pass to the Amazing Worlds of Film, Food, and Rock ‘n’ Roll. Mr. Gordon was in New York last week to celebrate the release of his new memoir with friends in the entertainment, fashion and food world at the Shinola Tribeca Flagship store.

The private event brought guests including Alice Cooper, Clive Davis, Mike Myers, John Varvatos, and chef Michel Nischan out to support the legend. Shep Gordon helped manage the careers of stars like Cooper, Blondie, Teddy Pendergrass, and the late Luther Vandross. He is also known for creating the concept of “celebrity chef” after meeting Emeril Lagasse and admiring his action in the kitchen one evening at dinner with friends. Nibbles including Moroccan Lamb Sliders and Shrimp Skewers by The Smile and beverages provided by Owl’s Brew, Prairie Organic Vodka and Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum kept guests pleased while they skimmed through Gordon’s tales and globe-trotting experiences over the past five decades. He shares exciting accounts, including that one encounter with Janis Joplin: Lets just say it’s a must read, especially for the punch line.
