The Pintô Manhattan Manila Will Exhibit For 24 Hours At Urban Zen

Beginning May 22 at 8pm, Urban Zen will transform to showcase works by more than 30 contemporary Philippine artists to purchase for 24 hours. The Pintô Manhattan Manila exhibit will benefit the Asian Cultural Council, (ACC), and Pinto Art Museum. Fashion designer Josie Natori along with David and Susan Rockefeller are Honorary Chairs for the evening’s event. Urban Zen will become a portal to the Philippines, including special programming throughout the evening featuring Skype exchanges between New York and Manila.

Curated by Federico De Vera in association with Pintô’s founder Dr. Joven Cuanang, art historian Patrick Flores, and Dr. Luca Parolari, the collection highlights 200 works of sculpture, painting and installations. Pintô International’s objective is to present Philippine contemporary art beyond the borders of Asia epitomizing the Pintô Art Museum, both via their online gallery as well as the future exhibits in Milan, Paris and Tokyo. The artists cover a wide range of aesthetics that are unique to the Philippines as well as themes that are universal. The style range include Surrealism, Expressionism, Minimalism, Social Realism, and Conceptual Art.

The Asian Cultural Council strives to advance international admiration and a better understanding between people and cultures through transformative cultural exchange. ACC also awards fellowship grants to artists and scholars in three categories of cross-cultural exchange: Asia to the U.S., U.S. to Asia, and inter-Asia. To accomplish the goal of enabling meaningful engagement, ACC develops programs specifically tailored to the needs and interests of each of its grant recipients.
