NYFWM: Matiere Fall/Winter 2017 Collection

Matiere Revealed The “Vandals” Collection For Fall 2017

Co- founders Scot Shandalove and H. Choi, along with Creative Director Jake Zeitlin presented a kind of raw, unfiltered energy of the U.K. punk rock movement for the Matiere’s Fall/Winter 2017 collection during New York Fashion Week: Men’s. Yet, this collection was refined. If you were picturing ripped clothing or garments secured with safety pins, think again. Matiere is the French word for material, and is the brand’s DNA as they create fabrics integrating form and function into a sleek and stylish modern aesthetic.

The Vandals, the title of the collection pays homage to London, the birthplace of punk and features rich fabrics and contemporary silhouettes and washes. Pairing the looks with Dr. Martens was the perfect touch. Highlights include a deconstructed blazer made from Japanese wool, paired with a Portuguese seersucker plaid henley and wide leg trousers. In addition, a plaid double- breasted coat with a fur collar caught my eye as it was styled over a tartan woven shirt and a plaid long short with piping detail and cargo pockets.
