Thursday evening we attended the launch ofSwatch’s New Gents Collection at the new Gansevoort Park Avenue hosted by Twilight Saga’s own Nkki Reed. The Gent Collection recognized by its characteristically shaped case and amazing designs, were on display while guests sipped cocktails and danced to tunes spun by DJ Mia Moretti, and a special performance by violinist Caitlin Moe. Celebrity guests included Susan Sarandon,Fabolous and Chris Brown. It was a perfect night on the East Side. The Gansevoort Park Avenue is definitely going to be a great spot this winter equipped with a cozy fireplace, and heated lamps for outdoor lounging.

Guess Who’s Coming to Fifth

guess store

The American lifestyle brand Guess is bringing their trend setting denim to 575 Fifth Avenue at 47th Street in New York City. The 13,000 square foot two-story store is now the 4th location in Manhattan, and the brand’s flagship. Last week the global lifestyle brand celebrated the launch of this new gem on the last day of fashion week. Guests sipped champagne and nibbled on the French favorite, macaroons while admiring the layout.

It seems like only yesterday the three-zipper style denim, also known as the “Marilyn”, with the red triangle logo blew off the shelves at Bloomingdale’s 59th Street. “We’ve come a long way since designing our first pair of jeans” noted Paul Marciano, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Guess? Inc., “New York is the fashion capital of the United States, with Fifth Avenue at its epicenter.”  The 575 Fifth Avenue space is a mix of Guess heritage and high fashion. There is a denim rug made from over 500 vintage jean patches, and a handcrafted installation of over 7,000 authentic denim buttons on a black background.

The first floor houses a denim anchor wall in translucent red glass,  along with the women’s collection including merchandise exclusive to the US flagship.  Also available on the first floor is a beautiful display of accessories, including shoes which I have to re-visit with my gift card, and a European jewelry collection sold only at the flagship and Guess accessories stores.  The second floor is home to women’s apparel, including a new dress section and a full men’s collection.

Rebecca Minkoff Introduces Men to Ben Minkoff

DSC00913

For years Rebecca Minkoff has gained popularity with her stylish handbags, accessories and apparel worn for women that it only made sense to bring the same appeal to guys. Ben Minkoff, the new men’s accessories collection, will make its debut for Spring 2011. The collection includes the same detailing and hardware which is highly recognized in the Rebecca Minkoff brand but bringing a cool, rustic, masculine edge. “I am thrilled to be entering into the men’s market and growing the Rebecca Minkoff collection into a lifestyle brand”, noted Minkoff.

Inspired by her grandfather’s career as a combat fighter pilot in World War II and the bags used by the Air Force in the 1940’s, the Ben Minkoff collection blends heritage and modernity. The wallets and billfolds are made of leather and cotton fabrics that are durable. The standout piece is the messenger tote, available in leather and leather embroidered wax- wear and my personal favorite the navy and hunter green plaid tote. In addition to the messenger bag, the collection will include men’s belts, cases for the Kindle and iPad ranging from $30-575 retail, and will be sold at select specialty retailers nationwide.
