Christie's Inaugural Auction Of Handbags in New York

Christie’s, the world’s largest auction house has recently announced that a live auction on handbags and accessories will be held for the first time in New York Friday, December 11. The live auction will take place at their headquarters at Rockefeller Plaza. Christie’s has previously held live auction sales on handbags and accessories in Hong Kong and Paris. This sale comprises 223 bags from luxury brands including Hermès, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Judith Leiber. Rare exotics including a shiny amethyst alligator Kelly with permabrass hardware is estimated up to $20,00 and a 35-centimeter amethyst crocodile Birkin with diamond –encrusted hardware is estimated up to $150,000. Also featured in the auction are limited edition and one-of-a kind handbags in an assortment of styles with estimates starting at $1,000. We are spying on a Chanel classic tweed Paris-Byzance single flap bag estimated at $4,000. Starting today, December 4- December 10 all of the handbags and accessories are on view to the public.
