Chashama Celebrates Art Is Everywhere In Times Square

Non- profit arts organization Chashama stayed true to its task Thursday night by presenting their 2017 Gala at was once Vanity Fair’s headquarters.  The former Conde Nast space was transformed into interactive installations highlighting 150 artists.  It was a vibrant evening for guests to discover and tap into their creativity,  and also participate in performances.

Since its inception in 1995, Chashama has supported artists and fostered creative groups in the New York City area and beyond. With the partnership of property owners, the organization is able to transform vacant real estate into areas for artists to create, unveil and connect. By far, the best Chashama Gala to date!” noted, Chashama Founder & Artistic Director, Anita Durst on the event that raised $470,000. The evening brought over 600 guests to the gala and the after party that followed.

Guests were comprised of corporate and real estate executives, collectors and artists. Upon entry, many were greeted by “Living Candelabra”, a hot wax sculpture installation featuring Durst as the centerpiece. Many roamed throughout, and received  up-dos at the makeshift hair salon, or relaxed and experienced a deep reflective state during the “Now is Beautiful” virtual reality meditation practice.

Honorary Chair, Darcy Stacom of CBRE Group Inc.,  and Co-Chair Carole Feuerman were in attendance as they honored Pentagram, the world’s largest independent design consultancy. Other honorees include Sir Shadow and CEO of DDG Partners, Joe McMillan for their contributions to the art world. To learn more about the organization and to get involved, visit them online.
