Barneys Downtown

Barneys New York has returned to its roots downtown by opening a flagship store on Seventh Avenue between 16th and 17th streets in Chelsea. The last location opened for the luxury retailer was Brooklyn in 2010. This 58,000 square foot space with four selling floors reflects a modern neighborhood luxury shopping experience. Barneys is using iBeacon, a state of the art technology used throughout the store to connect with clients. It will share rich multimedia video content, lookbooks, and designer interviews to customers who choose to opt-in. Barneys Chelsea is smaller than the flagship store located on Madison Avenue creating a more intimate atmosphere. Designers such as Dries Van Noten, Givenchy, and Saint Laurent will be available in addition to XO, “Exclusively Ours” brands including Baraboux handbags and scents from Douglass Little. This downtown store will also have exclusive capsule collections from labels including Valentino, Alexander Wang, Elder Statesman and Sidney Garber.

There are two feature windows on Seventh Avenue and three additional ones offering views into the store. The entrance highlights a central atrium with a spiral staircase that pays homage to the original store and that affords views of the adjoining floors. The Foundation level, housed one below the ground level contains cosmetics, fragrance, skincare and men’s grooming. Barney’s teamed up with Blind Barber to produce a dedicated space for men’s grooming including shaves, haircuts and extra treatments exclusive to Barneys downtown. The Blind Barber area will also serve beer and cocktails. The ground floor highlights men’s and women’s leather goods, accessories and fine jewelry. The second floor features women’s apparel and shoes while the third floor includes men’s apparel and footwear. Fred’s at Barneys New York is located on the third floor as well. Compared to the one on Madison Avenue, the restaurant has its own menu featuring light bites, cocktails and exclusive dishes for its downtown audience. Upon entry, a 30 -foot onyx marble bar welcomes guests with lounge seating on the opposite side of a custom faceted mirror. A more formal dining area is located around the corner from the bar. The restaurant staff will sport uniforms created by New York based designer Anthony Thomas Melillo of ATM. The fourth floor is home to personal shopping suites for a more private or VIP experience. Barneys downtown offers same day delivery service for Manhattan residents and select areas of Brooklyn.
